The Charles is one of the most private new guest houses in Cape Town's gay village, De Waterkant. It lies in the historic Bo-Kaap area of Cape Town, a culturally interesting area of the city. Situated on the slopes of Signal Hill, it still has original cobbled streets, brightly coloured houses, Muslim shrines and mosques.

Trendy and fashionable today, it is compared to New York's Greenwich Village and London's Soho with its village atmosphere. Located opposite Cafe Manhattan, one of the oldest gay restaurants in the city, The Charles is the ideal place to really experience the pulse of Cape Town.

The Charles boasts nine luxurious bedrooms and two studio cottages. Room are serviced daily and feature a refreshment station, satellite television, a personalised min bar, safe, wall heaters, hairdryer and ceiling fan.

After a fabulous night out on the town with cocktails, dinners and parties guests usually prefer to sleep late. As a result activities are kept at The Charles to the barest minimum...ensuring guests a long luxurious lie-in. Enjoy a sumptuous breakfast. Relax afterwards on the roof decks overlooking the vibrant daily busstle of the village. The Charles is a wireless hotspot.
