This rural art deco style hotel dates from 1875, and is set across the street from Montagu train station and 3 km from climbing and hiking at Montagu Mountain Reserve. The Montagu Country Hotel is your home away from home. Strategically located in the part of the Western Cape where you have direct access to Route 62, the Klein Karoo Winelands and a vast selection of scenic routes to walk or cycle, this is your perfect getaway spot. The Montagu Country Hotel boasts 31 beautifully furnished en-suite bedrooms, a conference center and restaurant. With an on-site wellness center and spa for all your relaxation and massage therapy needs, the Montagu Country Hotel is definitely one that caters for all guests. The Montagu Country Hotel is a comfortable, inviting establishment that boasts varies facilities such as a conference room and a health center for all your requirements for Spa treatments in Montagu. Our aim at the hotel is to take our guests and visitors back to a hotel of the 1930s, with modern amenities and facilities. Our restaurant, Conferencing, and Wellness center adds to the experience. Eclectic rooms with hardwood floors and antique furnishings offer TVs, and tea and coffeemakers. Upgraded rooms have free-standing tubs. The Main Hotel is built in Art Deco design and furnished accordingly. The two Victorian Villas in the garden boast original furniture from that period. Our Honeymoon suite is furnished with original early French Mahogany masterpieces and has a large Jacuzzi for two. Our African Hut is also very popular with honeymooners and also boasts a large Jacuzzi and a double spout shower. Luxury bedrooms are considerably larger than classic rooms and most have bath and shower separately. Classic rooms only have walk-in showers and are somewhat smaller than the luxury rooms. All bedrooms in the hotel are fully air-conditioned, have satellite TV channels and free Wifi. Rooms either have a view of the mountains surrounding Montagu, or the garden. All rooms are individually furnished. Complimentary continental breakfast is served in an elegant restaurant with a piano. Lunch is an outside affair, seeing that our winter middays are the best time of the year to drench yourself in the sunshine, and in the summer a wisteria covers the pergola adding to the country atmosphere. Light lunches and a small selection of traditional dishes are available of which Karoo Lamb Pie in the winter, of course, is a total winner and our Pear and Blue Cheese Salad in the summer. Dinner is a somewhat more formal affair. There's also a lush courtyard and grounds, an outdoor pool and a spa.
